THE VIDEO WORK FOR MODULE

It was quite difficult although it was quite exciting. My partner and I made a video on fashion and interviewed a fashion artist who made Christian fashion wear. We chose the topic because we found it interesting, especially choosing to focus on fashion on the religious field. The difficulties endured was our first tape being damaged and had good use of excess footage on it. We took turns in capturing every valuable moment

AUDIO WORK DONE FOR MODULE

To be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to doing the task since I have never used an audio zoom kit before, but when I got the hang of it, I truly loved it! A few difficulties like deleting certain useless material, but were sorted out in a flash. Transferring the sound into ‘Audacity’ was a huge challenge due to the fact that it was ‘sound-editing time’ and hasn’t used the software since secondary school so, was very rusty, but it was very straightforward.

ONLINE PART OF MODULE

We looked at social networking sites such as Twitter, Flicker, Delicious and You Tube to get an idea of how multimedia journalism has replaced or even replacing the well-known traditional world of journalism. We also looked at sites with pretty bad web designing. Some that had too many links, the positioning of pictures etc.MULTIMEDIA, THE NET & JOURNALISM

MULTIMEDIA, THE NET & JOURNALISM

I feel that the traditional journalism has not been lost, but has been integrated with multimedia. A partnership, a build-up with modern technology, modern media. It is like a backup for tradition journalism. Judging the blogging scene, I don’t think that blogging is taking over. I believe the info obtained will be the help of news story blogs over the net and that’s where they can also get their links from there also.

Rationale: London Voyage

Target audience:

Targeted to all ages and all backgrounds. The theme is that London Voyage are a group of five individuals who have come together to make a blog which symbolises their cultures, hobbies, and traditions.

Concept:
The concept behind our Blog London Voyage is to uncover and discuss undiscovered places around places like London.

Web Platform:
We decided to do blogs on the internet because we felt it opened up more avenues for us to promote our blog to our target audience therefore we would be able to go interactive and people will be able to give feedback. If we did print instead our information would not reach to as much of an audience.

My Role:

Communication Director : To make sure certain blog stories were published and enabling to submit a blog story every Wednesdays.

Evaluation: Group blog on London Voyage

The group blog task in general was quite a challenging task, being in a pilot group and each of us had roles to play and my job was communications director that was making sure certain blog stories were published and enabling to submit a blog story every Wednesdays, but initially the task was to complete 3 stories into the blog a week on my behalf, Wednesdays was just something concrete for me and ensuring I’ve got a blog story written. The group blog was called London Voyage, subtitled, The Unbeknown and Unexplored Places in London. What I found challenging about the topic was that it was about going out there and exploring and find interesting places, but unrecognisable locations and write them up on the blog, but that was what I found hard. It was quite hard because half of the locations/places in London that I found interesting where places that were very ‘explored’ and ‘well-known’ so it was definitely a challenge because you’d have to be exploring.

In our blogs, we ensure we written up about interesting places and further information concerning the contacts of the locations and links to view it’s source. We wanted our blog to look attractive, but original as possible so of course, we inserted vast of images for it’s story, links and videos. When I got started with the blogging process, it was images obtained from the internet at first, but in the end you get really get into it and actually visit the places and take realistic photos and that is what I’ve done for a few of my blogs, it was like being an official journalist. Our blog was mainstream, since we were targeting a major audience. Our target audience was for all ages, from all different races and backgrounds and religions.

Setting up the blog was very simple, just to follow quick, easy steps and setting up the appearance and what not and before you know it, start blogging! The posting on a regular basis for instance, posting three blogs a week was very stressful indeed. The topic was hard enough and my disadvantage was lacking Internet server other than the university, so I had to make sure that my researching and my blogging had to be done at the university. The stories I’ve mentioned were locations like parks, centres and clubs and the majority was in my area and I made sure I chose places that was very unknown, sometimes I would ask a random amount of people at the university if they knew the particular place!

Comparing my own blog to the group blog, my own definitely needs more work and improvement. The group one has life on the page than my own. Controlling the group blog was not just making sure I’d following the instructions and completing the work, but it also was a helping hand, I’d say that I’ve grown to learn the basics so when it comes to sorting out my own blog, I will do so much better than before.

BBC News – Class Analysis

What video content is on the site? How would you describe it?

Video content is concerning on news related. Knowing that readers wouldn’t be reading a whole news page, but probably approximately a paragraph so, there are a vast amount of video and audio clips.

Who made that video content? Does it come from a traditional broadcaster or an individual journalist?

I think that there are groups of journalists in partnership in building the videos. Probably a traditional broadcaster.

Is the video content like traditional broadcast news? If not, how is it different?

How is the video integrated into the site? Does it standalone as a sort of little program? Or is it part of a story package that involves pictures and text? If so, how does it all work together?

The video is a relation to what has been said on the site, all news related so it all links together. Is’nt cateograsied as the main stories but supplementries to disingush the story.

Mother Lock-down!

This was one of the biggest stories ever occurred in the press from 2001. A mother of five, 43 from Oxfordshire was known as the first parent in England to to found imprisonment due, to the truancy of her 15-year-old child. She received a 28-day sentence for the prosecution of her daughter, Emma’s truancy at Holloway Prison. Apart from the truancy scenario, Amos has also appeared in two other news. Narrowing it down, categorizing the story out as “Good or Bad”, despite Amos claiming “I know for a fact that something good has come out of something bad”, two years later, she was sent back into court. Then four years later, a drug dealer was convicted of cutting off almost a woman’s ear due, to being over money and it had turned out that the lady was Amos. Seven years later, things seemed optimistic and the experience of Amos transformed daughter, Emma. she had stopped truanting, continued her studies and got her GCSE’s and is now working full time. Her mother’s experience “knuckled her down” and she felt awfully upset, had thought that the threats before about the truancy issue was just “all talk”.

The government does hope that from the experience that Patricia Amos had, this should make parents think twice about enabling and allowing your children to truant off schools, that it is seriously a serious offense, but then again, Amos did fort well to get her child to school so, is it all got to do with the parents?

Chris Brown attacks Rihanna!

It may be the end for America’s well-known young couples after rumor has it that American R&B Star, Chris Brown has allegedly assaulted girlfriend, Rihanna. It has also reported that the LAPD are investigating felony domestic battery charges against the singer. It is stated that reports of the identification of Brown and apparently an unidentified woman were found arguing inside his vehicle in Hancock Park when they started arguing around 12:30 on Sunday, 8th. When the pair got out the car, things got a little violent and by identify that, a woman with bruises makes Brown as the attacker then the victim called 911 but, by the time police arrived, Chris left. , but the irony was that earlier that night, the couples attended the Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy gala in Beverly Hills and a Grammy representative told “The Insider” that Rihanna’s face was quite bruised from a apparent “car accident” and will not be able to attend nor perform at the Grammy’s as it was scheduled.

Out With The Old, In With Whe New!

Understanding the Multimedia Journalism….we all know that journalism has changed, but to what extent? In terms of ‘Multimedia’ Journalism there are a vast of new technologies advancing Multimedia Journalism. Just imagine before, Print Journalism or just Journalism itself for that matter was defined strictly or shall I say ‘Traditionally’ conveying news, write in features or articles in newspapers etc.

Here is a link called The Places we live, which is generally about people struggling and living in slums, but doing what they can to survive. In terms of the media elements in the site is really effective and engaging. Shows you visual pictures of the events, a montage of the extreme, listening to the voice overs at the same time which really does enhances the sympathetic and ffective feel, watch it!
